Following the incineration of the god of love, Kamadeva, by Lord Shiva's third eye, his consort Rati falls into profound grief. She travels to the sacred city of Kanchipuram to perform intense penance and plead for her husband's restoration. Moved by her devotion and the cosmic need for love, Shiva eventually grants her the boon that Kamadeva will be reborn in the future.
